Vintage Royal Worcester PALISSY Game Series 9 1/2” Serving Bowl Tureen with Lid

Serving Bowl with Lid: Cock and Hen Pheasants are on the lid opposite Common Snipes decoration. Transfer printed decoration on the outside of the bowl.
Description: Dark brown rimmed serving bowl and lid – underside of bowl brown stamp numbered 8-7. The underside of the lid is numbered 5-7.
Condition: Surface scratches may be evident. Otherwise good.
Dimensions: Height overall: 6” 15 cm Diameter of bowl external: 9 ½” 24 cm. Diameter of bowl internal: 7” 18 cm. Handle to Handle edge: 10” 25.5 cm.
History: In 1958 Palissy Pottery Ltd. was bought by the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company. Various markings were used, but the words were not included in the factory mark until 1976 when Royal Worcester, Spode and Palissy came under common ownership. Palissy continued to make the popular Games Series and Avon Scenes until the 1980s.
