Presentation Carriage Clock With Key c. 1907

Information: Carriage clocks are among the most extensively produced, most popular and most collected of all antique clocks. Carriage clocks were produced mainly during the 19th Century, although there are many 20th Century examples .

Description: The Corniche (Cornice) plain case made by Jacot c. 1890 example is the closest likeness to this clock. Lovely tick to this old timepiece complete with original no 6 double ended key Made in England. Without travel case. Black italic numerals on white enamel. Non striking. Presume English as plain cased. No signature on the front. Bevelled glass on all 5 sections. Regulator does not appear to be functioning correctly. Cannot see a makers’ mark or serial number and loath to open up to get to the workings to find one. Presented to Mr. F. Dines from his Friends of the G.N.R.A.A. (Tennis Section) 5th February 1908. Taken as given new when engraved and presented; presume date c. 1907 prior to gifting.

Dimensions: Height: 4 ½” x 3” x 2 ¼” Weight 800g without packaging.

Condition: good quality clock appears clean but may need a Clocksmith to give a once over. Purchased from reputable Antique shop.
